History of the Nursery

FRG is a 3rd generation, family owned business located in Freemans Reach in the Hawkesbury Region of North-west Sydney.
Started in 1989 by Karl and Anne Steinbach, FRG specialised in Geraniums, Cyclamen, Mini Roses and other colourful ornamentals. For decades, the company has provided quality green-life to Garden Centres and Nurseries, Fruit shops, Supermarkets and Hardware stores, Landscapers, TV shows, Botanic gardens and Councils throughout most of Eastern Australia. Anne and Karl’s children all spent time working in the business with Christian and family now and holding the reins. Anne and Karl’s grand children are also increasingly involved, bringing new fresh ideas and passion, that will assure the legacy of the business.

The variety of plants has expanded as trends change and currently the most popular products are:

Geraniums and colourful shrubs like: Daisies, Fuchsias, Kalanchoes, Gauras, Bacopas, Carnations, Etc.

Potted annuals: Producing over half a million colourful pots per/annum

Herbs and other Edible plants: Passionfruits, Fruit trees, Curry leaf Trees and Vegetable seedlings.

Indoor Plants in various sizes: We tend to grow those that handle our climatic conditions the best – Ficus, Monstera, Devils Ivy, Spathiphyllum, Fittonia, Ferns, Syngonium, Etc

Hanging baskets: The giant mixed Designer Dancer range, Succulents, ferns and other colourful Beauties.

Landscape plants: Silver Falls, Convolvulus, Gardenia, Murraya, Photinia, Viburnum and more.

Almost all of the pots we use are manufactured here in Australia from recycled plastics.

Our potting substrate is made from all renewable ingredients like Coconut fibre and purpose grown pine chips.

We work with our retail partners to ensure that we grow a great relationship, provide beautiful and reliable products to accompany their businesses.
